The Competition
A national, team-based competition across the core areas of biology.
Registration
The ARBC will be a regionally based competition so each team should register under their region. Visit our regions page to learn more.
Competition Rules
There will be 4 official rounds of competition intended for teams of 3-4 people.
Paper Round
Teams have 50 minutes to read scientific papers and answer questions about their findings. Internet, notes, and collaboration are allowed.
Team Round
Teams have 30 minutes to solve passage-based questions together.
Wave Round
Teams answer increasingly difficult questions one at a time, completing as many as possible in 30 minutes.
Individual Round
Each competitor has 60 minutes for a 50-question individual exam. Scientific calculators are allowed.
